Sophia Pounendis

Return to Self is the space I needed early in my self-discovery & healing journey
- so I created it for you.

Creator of RTS & Owner of
Temenos Psychotherapy

Why I created this space…

My own healing began at 22, after a relationship breakdown that cracked something open in me. I was a full-time uni student, newly navigating the depths of my emotions, and just beginning to understand the layers of my past. I was lucky to find somatic psychotherapy early on — and it changed my life. But outside of those sessions, I felt incredibly alone.

Accessing ongoing support, therapeutic (non-clinical) resources, or even just hearing from others on a similar journey? That was hard to find. There were so few spaces that felt human, safe, non-pathologising, and affordable — and nothing that offered the kind of community I was craving.

Return to Self is the space I wish younger me had.
〜 A space to land in between sessions.
〜 A space to connect with others walking a similar path, so I didn’t feel so
alone in what I was moving through.
〜 A space that offered not just community, but knowledge, tools, and
practices I could lean into - to understand myself more deeply, and
begin to make sense of why I was the way I was.

As a qualified somatic psychotherapist & educator, I’ve now supported hundreds of people through their own journeys of coming home to themselves. I created this membership for you - for the part of you that knows there’s more within, and is ready to explore it.

✧ Community Guidelines - Keeping This Space Safe & Supportive ✧

While we explore meaningful and sometimes tender topics within the RTS membership, this space does not replace professional mental health care.

If you are in acute distress, experiencing a mental health crisis, or need personalised therapeutic support, please contact a qualified therapist or crisis service in your area.

  • What’s shared in this space stays in this space.
No screenshots, copying, or sharing the stories, names, or posts of others outside the group.

    1. Please be mindful that while this space is private, it is still a shared community. Only share what you feel safe expressing in a group setting.

    2. Use first names only if you prefer, and know that semi-private engagement is welcome.

  • No hate speech, harmful language, or discrimination of any kind will be tolerated. This includes racism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, sexism, or any form of oppressive behaviour.

No selling, promoting, or soliciting in this space. If your work is relevant to a discussion, it can be referenced with care and appropriateness.

  • Return to Self is an educational space and therapeutic in nature but not a substitute for therapy, counselling, or medical care.

While I am a qualified somatic psychotherapist, the guidance, practices, and resources offered within this membership are not a form of personalised therapy or healthcare. They are intended to support self-awareness, reflection, and connection - not to diagnose, treat, or manage mental health conditions.

By participating in this membership, you acknowledge that:

    • You are responsible for your own emotional and physical wellbeing.

    • You will seek professional support if you are in crisis or in need of personalised therapeutic care.

    • I (Sophia) am not liable for any harm, distress, or outcome that may arise from your engagement with the material or the community space.

If you’re ever unsure whether this space is right for you, you’re encouraged to reach out or discuss it with a trusted healthcare provider.

  • Respond mindfully. Offer curiosity & mirror understanding, not advice, unless it’s been invited or asked for.

    • Assume good intent, but also honour impact. We can hold multiple truths and lived experiences.

    • Be respectful of each other's lived experience, and be kind when communicating with others.

    • If something doesn’t sit right with you, take space or reach out to me privately if something feels concerning.

  • If I become aware of behaviour that compromises the emotional safety of the group, I reserve the right to remove members to protect the space. These decisions are made thoughtfully, with the wellbeing of the broader community in mind. If something feels off, or if you need support navigating a dynamic in the group, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly.

    • Honour your nervous system. Engage at your own pace. There is no “right” way to participate, witnessing quietly is just as valid as actively sharing.

    • Use content or trigger warnings before sharing anything that might be activating for others. This could include topics such as trauma, abuse, disordered eating, or neglect etc. A simple “TW: [topic]” at the top of your post is appreciated.

    • Be mindful of tone and detail. You don’t need to go into graphic or explicit descriptions to be real or vulnerable. Share in a way that feels grounded, contained, and respectful of the space and the people in it.

    • This is not a space to unload unprocessed or raw trauma. If you feel the urge to post from a highly activated or overwhelmed state, pause and ask yourself: “Is this supportive for me to express and safe for others to receive?”

    • Tend to your body as you participate. It’s okay to step back, mute notifications, take a break, or skip a post or practice that doesn’t feel right for you.

    • Bring what arises into your own 1:1 therapy space. This group can be a place for insight and reflection, but not for deep therapeutic processing. If something stirs something up, that’s okay. You're invited to take it to a space where it can be held with the personalised support it needs.

 FAQs

 Membership Access & Logistics

  • Once you join, you’ll receive a welcome email from me (Sophia) with all the details you need to get started.

The membership is hosted on a private platform called Circle, where you’ll find all the themed content, resources, guidance & the community chat - methodically organised and easy to navigate!

  • A new themed section of the membership will be unlocked on the 1st of each month, giving you access to fresh new content including guided somatic practices, meditations, self-inquiry prompts, and other supportive tools! You will receive an email with the new content drops (if you enable notifications to do so!)

You’ll receive a notification via email when the new theme is live inside the platform.

There’s no rush to complete anything, you can explore the material in your own time, and you’ll retain access to all previous themes to revisit whenever you like.

  • You don’t have to - you can access the membership via your internet browser anytime.

But if you’d prefer easy access on your phone or tablet, you’re welcome to download the Circle app, available on both Android and Apple devices.
It’s completely free and makes checking in & engaging with this space easy & accessible!

  • Yes, absolutely. Gifting a Return to Self membership is a beautiful way to support someone you care about on their healing journey.

Just reach out and I will help you to organise either a three-month or six-month gift package, with an optional message from you included.

  • Yes. The monthly & quarterly plan is completely flexible - you can cancel at anytime. You will have access to the content until the date you paid until. After that, you will not have access to the content.

The 3-month plan provides continuous access during the paid period, you will have access to the content until the date you paid until.

  • Yes - as more practices, resources, and themed content are added each month, the value of this space will continue to grow. To reflect that, the price may increase in the future.

However, when you join now, your subscription price will be locked in for as long as you remain an active member. If you choose to cancel and rejoin later, you’ll rejoin at the current rate at that time.

Joining early means you receive the best value and keep it - no matter how much is added in the future.

 Safety, Boundaries, Ethics &
Trauma-Informed Care

  • Yes - deeply so. Return to Self is grounded in a trauma-informed approach that prioritises creating an environment with choice, autonomy, and emotional safety at the forefront.

As a trauma-trained somatic psychotherapist, I’ve created this space with deep care to honour our trauma histories, the states of our nervous system and to support members in exploring their inner world at their own pace.

While the practices and themes are intentionally supportive and resourcing, it’s important to note that some content may bring things to the surface - especially if you’re carrying unresolved emotional experiences in your body.

We do not engage in direct trauma processing or resolution work within this space. That kind of healing requires personalised, relational, and attuned support, which a self-paced group membership cannot ethically or effectively provide. However, throughout the membership you’ll find clear disclaimers and content notes before any potentially activating practices - so you can make fully informed, empowered choices about what feels right for you.

One of the first themes you’ll explore is centred on building internal safety and resourcing yourself - a foundational skill for anyone doing this deeper healing work.

Here are a few of the ways this membership actively holds a trauma-informed foundation:

    • Consent is central - everything here is an invitation, not an expectation

    • ✧ All somatic practices and meditations include a written breakdown and transcript, so you can review what’s involved before participating

    • ✧ You can choose to be a semi-private or public member (e.g. using your first name only, if preferred)

    • Participation in the community Telegram chat is optional - some members engage socially, others prefer to move through the content privately

    • ✧ If something arises, I offer weekday access to personal support (Tues–Fri, 8am–7pm AEST) via message or email - there is support available

    • New content is drip-fed - this is on purpose! Monthly themes released on the 1st, so you’re never bombarded or overwhelmed with too information at once

    • You are always in choice - you have full permission to pause, skip, disengage or revisit content as needed. There are no expectations of what you ‘need to do’ in this space. I trust you know what content feels good to engage with and what doesn’t.

This is also a community space, and your emotional safety matters deeply. All members are asked to agree to a set of community guidelines upon joining, which are designed to uphold a shared commitment to care, mutual respect, and self-responsibility.

There is absolutely no tolerance for discrimination, bullying, or derogatory language. While there’s space for honest communication and repair, the protection of group safety always comes first - I will remove members if community guidelines are breached.

This is a space of compassionate boundaries, collective care, and choice-led healing. Everything offered in this space is invitational!

  • No - while I am a qualified somatic psychotherapist, Return to Self is not a therapy service. This membership offers therapeutic resources, guidance, and education - but it is not the same as personalised therapy.

I do not provide individualised advice or therapeutic interventions in this space. If you are seeking 1:1 therapeutic support, I encourage you to book a private session through my psychotherapy practice Temenos Psychotherapy. This boundary is in place to honour both your care and the integrity of my role in this space.

  • You’ll be beautifully held within this community - not just by me, but by others walking a similar path. The membership space is designed to be a nourishing container where you can feel supported, seen, and guided through shared wisdom, therapeutic resources, and gentle prompts.

If you’re in Tier One, you’re welcome to ask general questions about the content or practices, and I’ll do my best to point you toward supportive tools within the library. Fellow members may also reflect or share what’s helped them, this kind of peer support can be deeply powerful.

For those in Tier Two, there’s more intimate support available through fortnightly live calls and a weekly Q&A thread via Telegram, where I offer group-based therapeutic coaching and reflections. While this offers deeper access to me, it’s still not a space for personalised or medicalised therapy - that level of care is reserved for my 1:1 work.

If you feel you need ongoing, tailored support, I encourage you to reach out about working with me privately or to connect with a trusted therapist who can support you in a more individualised way.

  • It’s completely natural for emotions to arise as you explore your inner world - especially in a space like this that invites deeper connection with yourself. The practices are designed to be gentle and supportive, but you’re always encouraged to move at your own pace, pause as needed, and listen to what feels right for you.

In the early course content, you’ll be guided to identify your support systems and protective factors, so you can begin to build a felt sense of safety and know what to lean into if something feels tender or activating.

You’re also invited to lean into the community space - whether that’s reading shared reflections, posting your own, or simply witnessing others. Sometimes just knowing you're not alone can be regulating in itself.

While I don’t provide personalised therapy in this membership, you can reach out to me directly between Tuesday–Friday (8am–7pm AEST) if something arises and you’d like support in grounding or navigating your next step. And if you feel you need deeper or more individualised care, I encourage you to reach out to a therapist or consider working with me 1:1 if that feels aligned.

  • Return to Self is not a crisis support service. While the membership offers gentle, trauma-informed resources and guidance, it is not designed to support acute mental health crises or emergencies.

If you are currently in crisis or need immediate support, I strongly encourage you to reach out to a qualified mental health professional or a dedicated crisis support line in your area.

If you're in Australia, you can contact:

    • Lifeline - 13 11 14
Free, confidential crisis support for anyone experiencing emotional distress or thoughts of suicide.

    • Beyond Blue - 1300 22 4636
Support for anxiety, depression, and emotional overwhelm, with online chat options available.

    • Mental Health Triage (Public Services) - contact your local hospital's mental health triage line
They can assess your situation and provide access to emergency mental health services. (Numbers vary by state - search “Mental Health Triage + your state” or call your local public hospital.)

    • 13YARN - 13 92 76
Support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, available 24/7 with culturally safe counsellors.

    • Kids Helpline - 1800 55 1800
Free support for young people aged 5–25.

    • Emergency Services (Police, Ambulance, Fire) - 000
If you or someone else is in immediate danger.

This membership is here to support your ongoing inner work, reflection, and reconnection - but it cannot replace the care, urgency, or containment that crisis support provides.

  • Current therapy clients can choose to join Return to Self for additional support between sessions if they wish.

That said, it's important to name that this membership space is not a continuation of our 1:1 therapy. While I won’t be offering personalised therapeutic responses inside the group, I will naturally see your engagement, reflections, and insights - and this may add depth to the work we do together in session.

If anything arises for you in this space, emotionally, relationally, or in terms of boundaries, you are always encouraged to bring it into our 1:1 work. Your experience here is part of your wider healing journey, and I’m committed to holding it with care and integrity.

  • No - Return to Self is not a substitute for 1:1 therapy. While it offers deeply supportive tools and guidance, it is a self-paced educational and reflective space, not a clinical service.

If you’re currently in therapy, this space can complement your healing journey.

If not, it can still offer meaningful support but it’s important to reach out to a therapist or support service if you’re experiencing a mental health crisis.

How It Works

  • Each month, a new themed section of the membership is unlocked, offering a collection of self-paced resources to support your personal self-discovery and healing journey. This includes:

Guided somatic practices to gently connect with your body and nervous system

Self-inquiry prompts and reflective journaling questions

Guided meditations and visualisations for grounding, introspection and integration

Supportive tools like resource lists, book recommendations, podcasts or downloadable practices

101 Teachings that break down core healing concepts like parts work, nervous system regulation, and inner child healing - all in accessible, digestible language

All content is designed to support you in getting to know yourself more deeply, your patterns, your parts, your truth, and your inner wisdom. The monthly themes explore real-life emotional and relational topics, like boundaries, self-worth, inner child healing, and nervous system care.

Over time, I’ll also be curating new themes based on member feedback and community requests, so this space continues to evolve with you and for you.

  • There’s no set amount of time you need to commit. This space is designed to be self-paced so you can meet yourself where you are.

Your engagement in this space is dictated by you. Each months drop will contain hours of content that can be listened to, delved into or practiced. But you’re always invited to engage in a way that feels supportive. There’s no time expectation here!

Although the more you engaged with the content & community, the more value you will get out of this space.

  • Yes - as soon as you join, you’ll receive access to all previous themes and content already inside the membership. You can explore them in your own time, at your own pace.

  • Yes absolutely! This space is designed to meet you exactly where you are, whether you’re just starting to explore your inner world or already on a healing path.

You don’t need to have any prior experience with therapy or somatic work. All the practices are gently guided, and you’re invited to go at your own pace.

An open-mind and a willingness to explore yourself is more than enough to benefit from this space.

  • Not at all! This space is thoughtfully designed to support you in your journey, no matter where you are in your self-discovery journey, whether you are currently engaged in therapy or not.

  • Yes. Soon I will be offering a small number of scholarship spaces for 6-month access to Return to Self, prioritising those from marginalised communities, including BIPOC, Indigenous, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and others who face systemic or financial barriers to accessing therapeutic support such as people with disabilities, chronic illnesses, single parents, and those from low-income backgrounds.

This offering is close to my heart.
I believe everyone deserves access to spaces of care, connection, and support and if this membership speaks to you but cost is a barrier, please don’t hesitate to reach out - I’d love to hear from you and see how I can best support you. Applications for scholarships will be offered soon.
